Prior to 1810 a little spot on the banks of the White River was known as Radical, Missouri.
James Kimberling bought the land. He opened a store and grew produce and molasses. His grandson, William Wesley, ran the ferry boat that transported travelers across the White River so they could carry on their Old Wilderness Road journey. The Kimberling sons were many and they spread across the region. It just made sense to change the name of the town in honor of this entrepreneurial family.
In 1959, after the creation of Table Rock Lake, Springfield businessman, John Q. Hammons, got his start as a world-famous hotelier by opening his very first Holiday Inn. Our resort stands today where that dream began.
The area quickly became a boater's paradise. In the 1960's more businesses, residential communities, a post office, bowling alley, and churches were added. A full service marina served every boater's need. People began to call it "home." Resorts came and this "home away from home" community found its place on the map.
Today, the beautiful Kimberling Inn at Table Rock Resort is owned by the Steed Family. Excellence and attention to detail is a passionate quest. Caring about people and their stories is at the heart of every endeavor.
"Whether we're devoloping a community or building someone's dream home, exceeding expectations is not just a goal, it's my passion."
Acclaimed as one of the top bass fishing lakes in North America, Table Rock boasts an abundance of bass, crappie, white bass, catfish, and bluegill. An aggressive fish management program, resulting in an impressive resurgence of largemouth, Kentucky and smallmouth bass of exceptional size, has allowed the lake to become an exciting stop for hobbyists and professionals alike. Nature enthusiasts and hunters enjoy using the public lands surrounding Table Rock Lake which includes portions of the Mark Twain National Forest.
